Austin Earth Day 2010
In addition to the events listed on this site for you to get out and celebrate, take action, meet your neighbors and support efforts to make our community more sustainable, you can also take part in the following activities at your leisure:
Take an amazing walk through the Solar System to understand the true miracle of Earth in space. Three Peppercorn Models of the Solar System are set up near the site of the Earth Day Festival at 45th and Guadalupe. If the sun is the size of an eight-inch bowling ball, then the Earth is the size of a peppercorn 26 yards away! We’ve set up metal stands with the sun and planets and flags which label them, so that you can feel the scale that defines the big movements of our world.

Sponsored by the Austin Water Utility

Bring home a flat of soil and a seed packet and grow seeds into plants to be incorporated into Resolution Gardens’ YardFarm (link) program. We’re growing kale for Daily Juice and broccoli for Wheatsville Food Co-op in neighbors yards across the city. Email Johnny at Resolution Gardens to arrange to pick up a flat.
